The three-day Grand National gets underway with the newly-named ‘Liverpool Day’ and in 2023 this takes place on Thursday, 13th April. This opening day event is a relatively laid back affair and it gives race-goers a chance to ease themselves into the festivities, however that’s not to say that the racing is in any way inferior to that of the other two days. With the Aintree Hurdle and the Foxhunters Chase on offer, there’s much to whet the appetite on Day One of the Grand National Festival.
